***SOLD***Civil War era Antique Ballard Carbine manufactured by R. Ball & Co. and sold by Merwin & Bray, dated to the early 1860's.This rifle is a genuine antique Ballard Carbine, with a typical single shot falling block action and a half-octagon barrel, with manual ejector and walnut furniture. The breech block operates freely, however the hammer does not cock on its own, as the trigger spring is broken. The bore has some rifling remaining, and much of the original finish has worn off. The rifles manufacturer and patent marking have been worn off, however the serial number remains clear, and a small "GT'S" marking can be seen on a barrel flat, presumably a remnant of "MERWIN & BRAY AGT'S", as these rifles were often marked. A small "IFT" remnant marking can be seen on another barrel flat. This gun has most likely seen some modifications since it was manufactured. We are unsure of the originality of all the parts. We do know the rear sight is a later addition. We are sure the forend is original as the serial number matches and can be seen in the photos. Please refer to the photos for overall condition.
