"Mexican-American War era United States Navy pistol with 6"" barrel. Made by N.P. Ames in Springfield Massachusetts 1844 and marked on the lock plate. The barrel is marked USN 1845 RCP. The ramrod and bridle are excellent. The metal has a mix of gray and brown patina. The hammer holds on half and full cock. The stock is excellent. Overall a very good example.
