This is a little-used rifle that retains very nearly all of the original blue finish, with only some hints of fading at the muzzle and along some of the high and exposed edges. The bolt retains a commensurate amount of the original armory bright finish, the extractor has practically all of the original nitre-blue remaining, and the safety retains the original color case-hardening. The walnut stock and handguard have only some minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about the otherwise excellent original military oil finish, and the "ISA / 1898" cartouche and proof marking are crisp and clear. There is a single, hairline with-the-grain crack on the left side of the stock running for about 1/2" between the top of the magazine housing to the cut-off lever. This is a splendid, practically unissued Krag, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
