Digging deep into the gun safe, I have for sale today my Winchester Model 42 Double Diamond Deluxe Shotgun. This fine shotgun was manufactured in 1958 per the 'Winchester Dates of Manufacture 1849-2000 ' first edition. I hope you take this opportunity to enjoy this beautiful shotgun as much as I have!
It is a rare and hard to find double diamond deluxe grade. The proof stamp on the barrel is offset to accomodate the desirable, factory installed, solid barrel rib with a single bead sight. The blue finish is excellent retaining 95%+ of its original finish with a jeweled bolt and carrier. It has matching serial numbers on the receiver collar and receiver as shown in the pictures. Choked "FULL" stamped on the barrel at the breech, Winchester factory oval proof on the barrel and on the top of the breech as well as 3 INCH CHAM stamped on the barrel. Light cycling wear is visible on the magazine tube as well as on the sharp edges of the frame.
The wood is very fine figured walnut with the forearm displaying the deluxe double diamond pattern on both sides surrounded by 20 LPI strong checkering. The stock has a single diamond on each side of the pistol grip stock surrounded again by 20 LPI checkering and the 'Winchester' grip cap on the bottom along with the 'Winchester Repeating Arms' butt plate. Both the forearm and stock have very crisp checkering and strong varnish to this day. There is one blenish on the left side of the butt that is show in the pictures.
This is a mechanically excellent shotgun and a must have for any Winchester Model 42 collectors.
