For your consideration, the Colt Burgess lever-action rifle chambered in .44-40 Winchester. The Burgess was manufactured for only two years where just over 6,000 were produced. The Burgess rifle was made in a rifle and carbine version, designed by Andrew Burgess it was an attempt to compete with Winchester's 1873 rifle. There is speculation for why it had such a short run, and these rifles are very rare today. .44-40 Winchester
