Description:
24 inch octagon barrel and full length magazine show most original deep dark blue starting to tone slightly brown with a few faint freckles scattered here and there. Bore is bright with pockets of light pitting scattered throughout. Original sights include a German silver blade front and folding ladder rear. Brass forearm cap, receiver and buttplate show a rich deep butterscotch patina. Walnut stocks are solid and full fitting showing 70% finish with some oil staining showing typical wear and handling marks. Equipped with original sling swivels. Includes 4 piece cleaning rod behind the trapdoor rifle buttplate. Crisp tight action. Manufactured in 1869. A nice looking Winchester Model 1866 rifle.
