Description:
VERY RARE TARGET SIGHTED  S&W .32 HAND EJECTOR MODEL 1903- 5TH CHANGE, #120XXX, MADE C.1911. This model  was only made from 1910-1917 in serial range 102501-263000. In standard configurationwith  fixed-sight is fairly common, but the 6" adjustable sight target model is seldom seen. Typically, these were in the "pocket revolver" category with shorter barrels. Most shooters who wanted a longer barrel target revolver opted for the larger "K" frame models. This excellent example has the five-pointed "rework" star next to the serial number and "10.16" under the grips on the frame indicating it went back to S&W on October 1916. Sometimes this indicated a refinish job by the factory or it could have simply been returned for repair work. This one does NOT appear refinished as all markings and edges are extremely sharp and clear. Also, it would seem unlikely that a target revolver would see such hard field use in the first years that it would need refinishing. There are no signs of pitting or corrosion under the blue, which would indicate refinishing. Adjustable rear target sight with Lyman Patented and marked blade with tiny ivory bead front sight. Exc. blue with only the lightest of edge wear on the cylinder and one small rub spot on the left side of the frame below the S&W trademark. Exc. black hard rubber grips fit perfectly, but are a few thousand numbers away from this one. Still some good case color on the hammer and trigger. Tight action, bright bore. This is a really scarce 110+ year old target S&W.
