Description:
This Used Colt AR-15 SP1 is a lightweight, magazine-fed, gas-operated semi-automatic rifle. It is a semi-automatic version of the M16 rifle sold for the civilian and law enforcement markets. The AR in AR-15 stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. Colt's Manufacturing Company currently owns the AR-15 trademark, which is used exclusively for their line of semi-automatic AR-15 rifles. This gun features a 20-inch chrome lined barrel, has a triangular fore end and fixed stock. It has the "slick side receiver" with no forward assist and no outline around the magazine release. The serial number shows it was manufactured in 1974. This is a ONE OWNER firearm that was purchased new in 1975 and was well maintained by the previous owner who is a well known and respected Vietnam Veteran and proud member of the Alpha Company 1/505 82nd Airborne Infantry who, while on mission in the "Iron Valley" during Vietnam, famously helped capture a significant enemy weapons cache. Prior to him selling us this rifle, he made sure to have it inspected and safety checked by a licensed gunsmith to ensure it was still safe to fire as it had sat for more than 30 years. .223 Remington
