US Civil War Model 1861 Rifle Musket by Whitney. .58 Cal dated 1862 with strong cartouche. Fine flat bands with excellent walnut stock. . The lock is "1863" dated at the tail with an eagle and shield above "U.S." at the center and "WHITNEY-VILLE" at the front. "1862" dated breech with "V/P/eagle head" proofs, and "51" marked on the barrel tang.
