Description:
Winchester Model 21 Tournament Skeet, 12 gauge SxS shotgun with 26" barrels choked WS1 & WS2. Made in 1935.
Since 1935 this gun has undergone extensive "remodeling"! Somewhere along the line a very nicely done Simmons Vent Rib was installed.
Also, as easily noticed in the photos, this gun was masterfully engraved by C Hunt Turner with elaborate floral and scroll engraving with gold "wire" and gold inlays that cover the entire receiver as well part of the barrels. There is a gold Mallard on each side and a gold Wood Duck on the bottom. The engraving is signed on either side of the trigger on the trigger plate.
The nicely figured pistol grip buttstock and beavertail forearm are original to the gun but were most likely refinished the the engraving and bluing was completed. The length of pull is 14 1/2" over a Pachmayr White Line recoil pad; 1 5/8" drop at comb and 2 1/2" drop and heel with neutral cast.
More recently the gun was fitted with a set of Briley 28 gauge inserts that are easily installed and removed.
Mechanically the gun is perfect. Gun weighs 7 lbs. 11 oz.. Only add 10 oz. with the Briley tubes installed.
