***** DEAL PENDING ******* This is a 1945 vintage Winchester model 52B sporting rifle. Perhaps the most legendary rimfire sporting rifle made in the 20th century. This rifle was owned for 50 years by a local Doctor who was an serious small game huner and rimfire collector. The gun has lovingly cared for during it"s lifetime and still has about 98 % of it's original finish. These 1945 guns are considered "pre war" due to the fact they used pre war barrels and stocks from inventory to fill orders right after the war..The wood is dense dark old growth American Black walnut walnut finished with the hand rubbed varnish and fine line checkering found on the pre-war Winchesters. The stock is 100 % original and not cut or modified.
The rifle's action is tight and smooth with a crisp 3 pound trigger pull. The bore on this rifle is bright and shiny with perfect ridling. This gun is feeds and functions perfectly and is also extreme ly accurate. It is equipped with the original sights- the standard Lyman 48 rear peep and hooded rramp front . This rifle came from the factory with a barrel mounted externally adjustable scope. Later, two scope base mounting holes were professionally added to the rear receiver bridge to mount an internal adjustment scope . The two front scope base holes are fitted with plug screws. A Lyman All_Amercan "Perma-center" 4X scope which is period correct for the 1950s and 60s. It is mounted in machined Aluminum OD rings using Weaver mounts that allow switched from the scope back to iron sights . The scope sits high enough to clear the bolt handle , yet low enough still provides a good cheek weld . The Lyman scope is very clear and bright optically and functions as well as any modern 4x scope.
Overall, a very nice Winchester m52 Sporter that is solid, shootable investment.
