It is in rather challenged condition but is a very rare model with excellent early quality 5 engraving (Ref. p91, Houchins) and gold dog on the trigger guard. It would still grade antique “Fine”. All part numbers match. All metal surfaces are clean and the early quality 5 engraving is sharp. Only 266 hammerless guns of all quality levels were made in 1886. Very few early style quality 5 guns are known. The very fine Damascus barrels retain excellent pattern, but there is a miner dent in one. Barrel bores are “good” with no pitting and light roughness. The top tang has been broken, silver soldered back and safety removed. The stock is solid with nocracks or breaks, but all checkering has been sanded off. The gun is in good functional order except for the safety. A rare addition to your collection or worthy project for the advanced L C Smith collector.
