Rare Antique ALLEN & THURBER Bar Hammer Percussion Pepperbox Revolver  
Antique Allen & Thurber Bar Hammer 6-shot Percussion Pepperbox pistol made circa 1847 to 1856 in Worcester, Massachusetts.  .31 cal pepperbox with a 6 barrel cluster.    Serial # 25
Flat barrel ribs with Percussion nipples that were integrated to the barrels. Made with a bar hammer and standard trigger, models have been encountered with or without an integral nipple shield. This model includes the nipple shield.

Condition:
.31 cal , 3 ½” six barrel cluster with oxidized bores. The metal surfaces of this engraved Worcester made pistol have toned to an antique  gray metal patina with scattered light handling marks and areas of very light pin-prick pitting.  The bag shaped smooth walnut grips rate  excellent  showing some light marks & scratches. The serialized parts are all matching , including the grips. The address and patent markings on the barrel are still crisp and legible. The Allen’s Patent marking on the bar hammer remain faded but still legible. The Allen's Pattent hammer marking is still crisp. The frame retains strong floral engraving, all nipples appear to be intact   The action works very well with very good timing . 

Overall, this antique rare Allen pistol is a great example of a highly collectible piece of firearms history. Its very good condition, unique features, and rich history make it a valuable addition to any firearms collection.
