Description:
An Early & Scarce Civil War Model 1816 Conversion Of A Harpers Ferry Flintlock Musket Dated 1842 With Its Original Bayonet In Fine Plus Untouched Condition Found Hanging On A wall In Maryland. All original and complete. The musket has fine metal, markings, and edges throughout. The lock is clearly marked in front of the hammer with a small "Eagle & Shield/US, and behind the hammer, "HARPERS/FERRY/1842". The barrel is marked with the correct V/P/Eagle and is also dated 1842 on the tang. The top of the butt is marked "U.S." All of the metal on the musket is still in the white with some spots showing a light patina on them. The wood on the musket is excellent throughout with crisp edges on it. It has inspectors marks on the backside of the wood opposite the lock. It has an excellent bore and very tight action in it. The original 1816 bayonet is marked "US" on it. This Is A Very Fine Example of An All Original Civil War Model 1816 Conversion Of A Harpers Ferry Flintlock Musket Dated 1842 With Its Original Bayonet That Was Found On A Wall In Maryland Along With A Springfield Model 1816 Musket Which Will Be The Last item On This List Today!
