Description:
Scarce Greene Civil War .53 caliber percussion rifle, early serial #34. It is the first U.S. bolt-action rifle manufactured during the Civil War. In very good original condition overall. The barrel patina is smooth, age brown mixing original fading blue, very good bore, shiny. The ring underhammer has mottled case colors now mixing with grey. Very nice full length walnut stock with some age handling marks. Tang stamped clearly "GREENE’S PATENT / NOV. 17, 1857”. Mechanics are tight. All barrel bands stamped "U". Original swivels, has an old non-factory rear sight that works well. Ramrod is missing, you can get repro's if so desired. A nice example of the uncommon Civil War longarm.
