This is an imposing, London-proofed pistol that has an overall mottled gray patina and some traces of original blue remaining on the housing for the captive rammer and the belt clip on the left side. Intricate foliate engraving is present on the frame, hammers, and trigger guard, while the maker’s name and address is engraved along the top barrel: "JOHN BLISSETT 322 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON" and two gold inlays at the top of the breech. The finely checkered walnut grip is in very good shape with a single area of flattening along the trailing edge of the grip on the right side. The buttcap has geometric engraving, and is outfitted with trap and hinged lid. The action is still firm and fully functional. John Blissett was in business from 1851 & 1866 at the High Holborn address. This is a wonderful example of his work, and is in fine condition overall. Antique; SOLD Antique: Yes |
