This is the Smith & Wesson 38 Military & Police Revolver featuring a square butt and half moon front sight manufactured between 1948 and 1952 after which the front sights were changed to ramps. In excellent plus overall condition the metal surfaces retain about 96-98% original blue with loss at the muzzle, along the top of the frame and on the outside of the cylinder from light oxidation spotting. The service trigger and hammer retain much of the original beautiful case-hardened colors. The diamond checkered walnut Magna grips are numbered to the gun and feature silver S&W medallions with the right grip panel rating near excellent showing light wear and a few handling marks and the left panel displaying light to moderate wear and a few handling marks. The fine five-screw features a half-moon front sight, fixed rear sight, all appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun, and it correctly times and locks up.
