This is the Smith & Wesson Highway Patrolman built in 1955, prior to the formal Model 28 designation. This example bears import marks on the bottom of the frame just above the serial number by ODIN out of Alexandria, Virginia and likely saw service in Mexico. The rugged revolver remains in very good to near excellent condition with perhaps 85-90% of the original blue finish with some mild use and impact marks along the barrel, and frame, thinning on the high edges and some pitting just under the edge of the upper grip panels. The .265" serrated trigger and .400" semi-target hammer show muted case colors. The diamond center checkered S&W medallion Walnut grips are numbered to a different gun and are in very good condition, solid with some wear to the checkering and small contusions. Mechanically it functions properly with a tight lock up and proper indexing. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
