Description: This 1902 vintage revolver is a Colt Frontier Six Shooter chambered in .44-40 Winchester. It has a 5½" barrel, a fixed blade front sight, a top-of-the-receiver grooved rear sight, a checkered hammer, the original Rampant Colt, and checkered hard rubber grips. The top of the barrel is marked in a single line address "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". The barrel has the very desirable marking "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" acid-etched on the left side. 1878 was the first year that Colt utilized this model designation for Single Action Army revolvers chambered for the .44-40 cartridge. The left side of the frame is stamped with patent dates in two lines 'PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871. / JULY 2, 72, JAN 19, 75.", followed by the Rampant Colt logo in a circle. The metal shows significant marks and heavy wear throughout, but with a smooth gray patina.
