Description: This right-hand competition target rifle is a Kimber of Oregon 82 Government chambered in .22 Long Rifle. It has a front globe sight, a Kimber adjustable aperture rear sight, a full length forearm rail with sling loop, and a heavy 25-inch bull barrel. The smooth target-style pistol grip stock is in overall excellent condition with the exception of the well-known 'box cutter' thin and light intermittent scratch traveling the length of the left side of the stock. The stock is fitted with three ½' polymer spacers and a ⅜" 'KIMBER' marked rubber rifle pad, giving an overall length of pull of 13¾". A ¾' wide accessory rail is inset within the full length of the underside of the forend, and a single quick detach sling swivel is attached. The rifle is sighted with a globe front sight and the original Kimber marked aperture rear sight, with screw-in fine aperture. The receiver is grooved for mounts and target blocks are installed on the barrel. The rocker style safety is located on the right side of the receiver. The action must be cocked before the safety can be engaged, but the bolt can be operated while on safe. "US" is marked over the serial number [GM005652]. 20,000 rifles were manufactured 1987-1989 to fill the initial U.S. government contract. These rifles were all transferred to the CMP for resale to the public and are all marked "US" over the serial number. Commercial guns were manufactured for the private sector pending an accuracy test of .3 50 yards with match ammo. These guns were marked with a "Star" stamp over the serial number. This rifle is NOT star marked. The bluing is in excellent condition, showing no wear, rust or corrosion.
