Description:
Sale Pending !!

This National Postal Meter was mfg abt March of 1943 w/a Bbl date of 6-43. I use "M-1 Carbine" - 2nd Edition by R. C.Larson, "M-1 Carbine Wartime prod" by Craig Riesch (7th Edition & "M -1 Carbine III" by J. C. Harrison for my reference info. I find these sources to be very accurate & reliable for my reference material.
This particular NPM is to me an outstanding example of the excellent production, quality control & ability of a supplier to the DOD to meet production dates w/the fewest of clitches of any of the of the other Carbine contractors. NPM made ony 4 of their own component parts & yet relied on subcontractors to supply the remaining parts. They set up a rigid Quality Control system for all of these subcontractors.  It is my opinion & the author - R. C. Larson's that they manufactured one of the highest quality carbines.
This NPM Has all of the original type component parts (See the following inventory of
this Carbines parts).  The gun metal is all a matching light olive tone w/minimal wear
areas. The Buttstock is the correct High Wood w/the Oval Sling Sloot (Marked - "Trimble/TN" & on the R -Side the correct cartouche w/the boxed "NPM/FJA". There are no cracks, dings or handling marks. It is abt 98%. The 2- hole handguard is perfect, it is unmarked (See R.C. Larson's book pg 541).(The sling,Mmagazine & oiler are for presentation only & not included).
This NPM to me is an NRA Excellent. It should appeal to the most zealous Carbine collector.
