Description:
"Serial number 356313. Made in 1931. 38 Colt (38 S&W) with a 2" barrel. This gun has approximately 50% of a mottled blue original finish. The grips are good with a considerable amount of handling wear. The left hand side of the trigger guard bow shows the government inspector initials “GWA" for George A Woody of Springfield Armory. The entire gun actually shows a significant amount of carry use. The back strap is marked “R.M.S. P.O. DEPT." This was for the Railway Mail Service Post Office Department. This was a division of the post office that moved more mail than any other sorting mail as they traveled along in the trains. These guns were issued to the employees as they often carried large amounts of cash and Gold for the Federal Reserve. After there service, these guns were destroyed. This is one of a handful that made it out. Very neat rare Banker Special!
