Smith and Wesson states We have researched your Smith & Wesson Model 3 Russian Third Model, Commercial, Caliber 44 revolver in company records. Your handgun, with butt serial nu]mber 547 was shipped on August 15, 1874. It was delivered to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York City. The Revolver was shipped with 6.5 inch barrel, butt swivel and walnut stocks. Records show the it had a nickel finish. The engraving and ivory grips are aftermarket additions. The engraving is typical New York style engraving. The amount of nickel finish is somewhere 75 %. There are spots of darkness here and there from wear. The back strap does not have any nickle on it and the front strap of grip the same. The trigger guard is blued as the hammer is also. The ivory grips are beautiful with wear and some age cracks none are active. Inside grip marked C L J, a common practice for owner to mark incase of someone stealing. The engraving is in very good condition, some of which are extreamly fine and beautifully done such as the very small arrows that can be seen in photo 9 and the spiderweb just in front of the cylinder. Remarkable revolver that saw all of the old west, Indian war periods. This August 15th 150th year since shipped.! Included the hoster, and belt that came with it, ammo not included.
