Description:
Here we present a very nice vintage French St. Etienne MLE 1892 Berthier Carbine chambered in 8mm X 50R Lebel. This rifle is in overall Very Good condition, showing some signs of use over it's 100+ years of service. The 18" barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling and no signs of pitting or rust, and the metal retains much of it's original finish with spots of dark gray patina throughout. The wood is in great shape as well with a few light dings and mild abrasions, consistent with the age of the rifle, and a couple spots of arsenal repair. The action is very smooth and all of the original proofs and markings remain strong and clear. This rifle would make an excellent addition to any military history collection.
