Smith & Wesson Model 629-4 Alaska Backpacker Special Order #8083. This special order 629 with 3" barrel was produced in 1998 with a limited quantity of 300 (Product Code 148083). This is one of the first Backpacker configuration produced and can be verified on S&W site and several S&W Forums using the product code and special order number. I'm going to call this gun 99 per cent because I'm use to the Performance Center finish stainless. It has the color case hardened trigger with hammer checkering.
