Twelve-gauge game gun with non-rebounding hammers and highly figured nitro Damascus barrels. Extensive best quality game scene and scroll engraving on the action, lockplates, trigger guard, and metal buttplate. Highly figured French walnut stock and forearm. Manton no. 12083 was made circa the 1870’s according to the available records. Weighs 7lb 2oz. The 28-3/4” highly figured nitro Damascus barrels were reproofed for (70mm) 2-3/4” shotshells in London in 2006. The barrels are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib which is inscribed “John Manton & Son Dover Street London”. The right barrel is bored 0.733 with a constriction of 006 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.023. The left barrel is bored 0.734 and has a constriction of 0.010 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. The forearm has an ebony tip. Stock dimensions are 14-1/4” including the thin metal buttplate by 1-3/4” by2-5/8”.
