Absolutely fantastic Remington Keene Carbine in the popular .45-70 caliber. Only approx 5000 Remington Keene bolt action guns were built and the carbine version was made in the fewest numbers. 1880's production, a true antique made in the black powder cartridge era. Not for modern ammunition.
This carbine is a true survivor and obviously has seen little use and no abuse. Bright mint bore. Bright blue, excellent wood finish, no cracks, no extra holes. Scattered oxidation. Very light oxidation blems on upper foreward side of barrel. Blue loss on buttplate. Nice screws. Nice tight folding sight.
Tight crisp functioning mechanics. No visible serial number. The photos represent the gun well.
In my experience this is one of the nicest Remington Keene Carbines in existance and are rarely offered for sale in this condition & caliber.
Any & all firearms such as this should be inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing.
