Richardson & Overman Gallager Carbine, RARE Civil War, 22 ¼” Single Shot Hinged Barrel Rifle, MFD 1861-1865, 50 Cal. percussion carbine, The most extensive usage of the Gallager Carbine was during the Civil War. Union Cavalry units were the primary bearers of this firearm. The famed 7th Michigan Cavalry, part of George Armstrong Custer's Michigan Brigade, notably wielded the Gallager Carbine. This brigade, known as the "Wolverines," played a pivotal role at the Battle of Gettysburg, and their Gallager Carbines helped stave off J.E.B. Stuart's Confederate cavalry, contributing significantly to a Union victory. VERY NICE condition with a beautiful stock. May have been lightly cleaned at one time, but maintains the "feathery" grain fee. I did not see a cartouche. Would make a GREAT SHOOTER FOR NSSA.
