It has a five round rotary magazine, a fixed serrated ramp brass dovetailed front sight, an adjustable Redfield peep rear sight, a curved grooved trigger, a 13⅛" LOP, and overall length of 41¾", a curved and grooved steel butt plate, and a rounded diamond checkered walnut fore arm. The bluing is in good condition overall, with many areas of thinning, but with no freckling or rust noticeable. The hardwood walnut stock and fore arm are in very good condition, showing minimal handling wear, and with no chips, scratches, or cracks observable. The Model 99 is a hammerless lever action with a hefty breechblock, the rear of which locks up strongly against the solid receiver when the lever closes. The rifle's unique rotary magazine permits the use of spitzer bullets, which competing tubular-magazine rifles could not handle. It also has a cocking indicator — on this gun it's a pin in the top of the receiver — a feature that was ahead of its time. The safety is somewhat novel as well. It's located in the bottom metal, right behind the trigger. Sliding it forward locks the lever and the trigger. The Model 99 handles like a dream. The balance is perfect for carry. .308 Winchester SOLD Metal Condition: "Bluing is in good condition overall, with many areas of thinning, but with no freckling or rust noticeable Wood Condition: "Hardwood walnut stock and fore arm are in very good condition, showing minimal handling wear, and with no chips, scratches, or cracks observable Bore Condition: Bore is very bright and shiny with strong rifling intact Barrels: 22" barrel Triggers: Curved grooved trigger Stock Dimensions: "13⅛"" LOP, overall length 41¾"" Fore End: Rounded diamond checkered walnut fore arm Butt Pad: "Curved, grooved steel butt plate Weight: 6 lbs 14 oz Sights: "Fixed serrated ramp brass dovetailed front sight, adjustable Redfield peep rear sight Item Location: Wichita, KS |
