MINTY CONDITION .44 HAND EJECTOR 4TH MODEL .44 SPECIAL TARGET ("MODEL OF 1950 .44 TARGET/PRE-24) Only about 5,000 of these were made from 1950-1957. This 5-screw example with serial number S 146XXX was made 1955-56. The standard finish on these was a dull blue. According to Supica's book THE STANDARD CATALOG OF SMITH & WESSON bright blue finish should command a 25% increase in value. This one has the scarce and desirable bright blue finish, and about all of it remains. It also has the correct diamond checkered target grips. Bright case colors on the hammer and trigger. Sharp markings. Tight action and perfect bright bore. I'm not sure this one was ever fired as about all the blue remains on the face of the cylinder. Barely a cylinder line. About as nice as one could hope to find especially with the special bright blue finish.
