Description:
"NSN, made in 1863, .58 caliber 40"" round proofed barrel. Barrel and other metal parts are in a bright grey patina with pin-prick surface oxidation noted, mottled darker oxidation is also present. Bolster and nipple do show heavier pitting form usage. Lock plate is marked with ""EAGLE-U.S./Wm.MASON/TAUNTON"", rear of lock is dated ""1863"". Stock is in very good plus condition with expected nicks, dings and scratches visible. Action holds at half and full cock, spring is soft. Ram-rod is missing. One of 30,000 manufactured for the Civil War.
