Description:
Serial #14947, .45 Colt, 7 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves towards the breech. This revolver was made in 1885 and has practically all of a very well-done added chrome finish remaining. The markings and hammer checkering are still crisp and sharp and there is almost no flaking or discoloration of the surface save for a few small areas around the circular sideplate. The checkered hard rubber grips have very little wear as well, and fir the frame snugly, without any play or looseness. The lock-up is good, and the action functions flawlessly in both single and double-action. The revolver is housed in an unmarked brown leather military style flap holster with brass closure stud and single angled belt loop. The leather is in fine shape with minor scuffs and some crazing along the flex points. This is a great looking, mechanically sound Model 1878 fine piece for display. Antique;
