Description:
Sharps 1874 "A" Rifle chambered in .45-70 Government. This is a large-bore, single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifle. They were renowned for long-range accuracy. The military used 1874 Sharps during the Indian Wars in the decades immediately following the Civil War. The "A" rifle designates this as an Assembled Rifle and were manufactured by Sharps from surplus receivers and other surplus or salvaged parts. A letter identifying the origin and early history of this rifle is included. .45-70 Government
