Description:
This is a Model 1858 Double Action Starr Arms Army revolver, .44 caliber, converted from percussion to metallic cartridge (presumably post-War). The gun was long ago and nicely re-blued. It is mechanically Excellent, with Very Good++ bore. Everything is tight on this gun and fully functional. The 1858 Army was used extensively in the Western Theater of the War. The Army then persuaderd Starr to produce a single-action variant. This is an original D.A. revolver. One piece walnut grips are in excellent condition. Starr employed two controls on the 1858 Army, a forward “firing-lever” (i.e., trigger) and back-mounted “trigger” which really was more like a sear. A very nice example of this extensively used CW firearm.
