Description:
This is a real beauty, 1873 Winchester, 38 WCF, which at some time, has been re-finished and re-blued and engraved. The engraving was one of the last rifles Frank Leman of California worked on. It features a Grizzly Bear on the right, a Bull Elk on its left and scroll work in various places. I believe this to be an original piece and functions well. This barrel is a 26” octagon and has signs of use, pitting is visible. If you look closely, you can see two areas that have been repaired in the fore-stock and the tip of the butt-stock. This rifle has always been the main attraction on the wall, and I feel its beauty far outweighs its flaws.
