After nearly 70 years of continuous production of these wonderful rifles Savage in 1965 came up with this clever and useful modernization by changing from the classic rotary magazene to the use of a handy clip (box) mag. Otherwise identical to the millions preceding it found in the deer woods across the nation Savage 99's have been carried by more woodsman and hunters than any except perhaps 94 Winchesters or Marlin 336's...Lst produced in 1965 this was the lst generation of 99c's (offerend in 243,308 and 284) and then incorporated some additional changes in 1974 (this fine example was made believed to have been made in 1973...date code is difficult to read as they ofter are)
It is in truely excellent conditon with only a few light marks on the handsome American Walnut Stock set and still retains the classic steel Savage Butt Plate. Nice case color remains on the part of the lever not exposed to the elements. There is no rust or pitting ..blue at 95%, No cracks or splits or repairs or touch up. The scope shown is a perfect match BUT IS NOT INCLUDED...It is a period correct and excellent Weaver V 4.5 (1.5 x 4.5) half tube El Passo Tex. made period corerct. It is clear and bright with traditional CH. Scope may be purchased for any additional $ 99.00 if purchased with the rifle ...if sold outside it is avail for $ 145.00
