Description:
RARE, ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO SHIPPED BISLEY, .38-40, #324XXX, FIRST YEAR OF NEW MEXICO STATEHOOD IN 1912! New Mexico became a state in January, 1912 followed by Arizona in Februaty, 1912. At this time the Mexican Revolution was in full swing  (1910-1920) and the extreme Southwest was still a violent, frontier part of the U.S. Most of the firearms there were purchased from the usual main distributors in the East and Midwest. It is infrequent (and exciting!) to have a Colt letter indicate an early shipment to this thinly populated area of the country. This Bisley wih 4 3/4" barrel letters as it is showing shipment on October 21, 1912 to Charles Ilfeld Company, Albuquerque, New Mexico in a 5 gun shipment. This is an interesting company in itself with quite a bit of history. There is still good barrel blue with the usual holster wear gray streak down the left side and on the outside of the ejector housing. Bright blue on the toop and bottom flutes of the ejector housing. Thinning blue on the cylinder with stronger blue in the flutes. Mostly gray grip straps with good blue on the butt and portions of the trigger guard bottom. Still some fireblue on the trigger sides and some fading case colors remain on the frame ahead of the cylinder. Excellent grips fit perfectly. Exc. screws and  exc. correct markings. Tight mechanically with four clicks to the hammer and excellent bore. Unaltered front sight. Lots of Southwestern history in this fine Bisley. $3450.
