Description: The Winchester Model 50 was the penultimate semi-auto shotgun produced by that company before the change in 1963/64. It is in good condition for its age and comes with two barrels. Both have been modified with adjustable choke devices from the Polychoke Co. The two barrels retain most of their bluing. The primary or 26-1/8” barrel retains about 98 percent while the secondary or 28-3/8” barrel has around 95 percent remaining. Overall length is 45-3/8” or 47-5/8” depending upon the barrel fitted. Length of pull is a respectable 13-7/8”. Total weight with the primary barrel is 8 lbs. 14.0 oz. The receiver exhibits bluing loss on the bottom. The wooden stock has lost a bit of the finish, but this is not unusual for a Model 50 as they were commonly used as a workhorse shotgun. Despite often being overshadowed by the slightly more popular Remington Model 58, the Model 50 saw wide spread use and remained in production between 1954 and 1961, with over 196,000 produced. This example left the factory in the final year of production, making it one of the latest to be produced. Despite the external wear, the bore is in very good shape being both bright and spotless. If you are looking for an old-fashioned and fairly lightweight shotgun for hunting, the Model 50 would be an excellent choice.
