This is perhaps one of the rarest wartime Walther p38 variations - an early second variation 0-series gun with a scarce "milled slide". According to various P38 researchers, some of the early preproduction 0-series P-38 pistols had a 480 code milled out on the left side of the slide for unknown reasons. Only a handful of such guns is known to collectors and this is one of those guns. It is probably the best condition early 0-series gun that I had ever encountered, as it retains about 98% of its high polish blue finish with some holster wear on the high edges and some rub marks on the right side of the slide around the proof marks. The locking block, locking block pin, recoil spring guides and the sear are correctly left " in the white". The gun is all matching except for a correct magazine a couple of hundred digits off the gun's serial number. The second mag is from a 3rd variation 0-series. The bore is mint. The grips are serial numbered inside and are in excellent shape. Decocker works perfectly. The gun comes with a very rare early variation P38 holster which is marked P38 on the back. It is made in a style of a Luger holster and was made in 1938-1939 time frame before the final hard shell p38 holster design was finalized. This is an early pre-production 2nd variation 0-series P38 that would be impossible to upgrade. It appears that it was either never issued and remained at the Walther factory until the end of the war or sat in a drawer for the duration of the war. 3-day inspection . $100 insured shipping in Conus.
