Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1909, .22LR, 4lbs. 12oz., LOP 12 7/8″ Serial Number: 118489B This Winchester Model 1906, sn118489B, was built in 1909. It has a 20” round barrel with a excellent bore with strong rifling, it can chamber .22 S/L/LR cartridges in any order. Production of this pump action rifle began in 1906 and Winchester records identify this gun as having been produced in early 1909. Initially built to utilize only the .22 Short cartridge, the mechanisms were changed near serial number 7000 to allow for the rifle to chamber the .22 short, long, or long rifle cartridges. This change resulted in subsequent rifles being marked with the letter “A” underneath the serial number on bottom of the receiver, eventually replaced by the letter “B” in late 1908. This example is an early “Standard Model 1906” and is fit with a straight grip stock and a smooth pump handle. The gun has its original factory bluing with some areas fading to gray, the balance point is nicely silvered attesting to a history of use and care. The rifle has its factory original furniture with some field and handling marks, its factory hard rubber buttplate is in excellent condition with no cracks, wood to metal fit is superb. The trigger breaks at 4lbs and is perfect, no take up, no creep, just a crisp clean break! Over the years, the operation of this rifle has been worked to a slick action, the action is fast, smooth and short, and can be slam-fired for the ultimate fun! A fun, light weight (4lbs. 12oz.) and fast rifle, take it to the range for some old school Winchester fun. Thanks for looking.
