Description:
This wonderful pre-war Ithaca 37S would be a great shooter and addition to any collection of American pump guns! These pre-war Ithacas are unquestionably the highest quality guns Ithaca produced, and this 37S is ready for anything, from skeet to pheasants. Really nice wood, as was common on Ithacas, and the classic pre-war checkering pattern on the buttstock. Correct beavertail forearm underneath the Vent Rib/Mid Bead barrel. This gun was fitted for a Poly Choke- a common modification at the time that was sometimes factory done, although I do not believe this to have been done by Ithaca Gun Co. Wildly practical and popular at the time, this is still a useful addition to have. Barrels measure 27' with the polychoke, and about 24.5 to the end of the rib. Front bead is loose, would need to be fitted, but could easily be done at home or at a smith for a small fee.
Bluing wear present on gun (pictured on bottom of receiver and mag tube), but I believe the metal finish to be original.
I believe the wood to have been nicely refinished, and I think there was a well-repaired chip behind the trigger guard (pictured).
Pre-war 37s of all varieties have spiked in value and are not being made any longer, so this is a fine chance to own one at a bargain price!
