Description:
SOLD...Antique and very early Colt 1849 Pocket Model. Here is a pretty nice early 1849 Colt Pocket Model.. Has the standard 4” barrel. .31 caliber of course. 5 shot cylinder. Early S/N 21515 With ALL matching numbers including the wedge and the arbor pin. This little Colt was made in 1851 being a 3rd year production gun and is 173 years old !!!  Nice "Gold Rush" era 1849.  The cylinder retains about 75% cylinder scene. Traces of case colors on the rammer. 95% silver on the trigger guard. About 25% silver on the back strap behind the hammer and on the bottom. All the markings are excellent. Nice scarce two line barrel address. Grips show 30% or so original varnish on the left grip and about 50% or more on the right side.. NO cracks or chips.. No corner wear and a perfect factory fit. Very hard to find grips this nice on these very early Colt percussion's. Nice and full front sight is not worn down. Over all finish is a medium gray brown patina with pretty smooth metal with just a few minor usage dings and some small patches of minor surface crud, Never cleaned on or messed with. Mechanics are excellent. Very crisp and tight like new gun.. Very little front to rear cylinder movement and no side to side wobble on the arbor pin fit. Very hard to find these early guns this tight and crisp. Most you will find are very loose and worn out from use. This gun is 173 years old and still is crisp and tight like new. No wobbles or slop anywhere. Rock solid barrel to frame fit and the wedge fit is tight as new. Very good strong bore with light roughness. Cylinder chambers are very good with no pits. All the screw heads are crisp and clean and not burred up from tinkering. All the hammer notches are correct and positive with NO forward hammer creep at the full cock. This is the earliest 1849 Colt I have had in many years and it has been well taken care of through all this time.. Just a real nice one here at a reasonable price. If this gun was rough, loose and rattly with no cylinder scene it would be priced much cheaper like the hundreds that you see all over the place in the lower price range. This one is much better all around. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.. $25 insured priority mail shipping.
