Very clean and exceedingly scarce Winchester Model 54 with no structural alterations, and no extra drill holes anywhere.
Only 50,000 ever made of this forerunner to the famous Model 70, and most are practically beyond recognition these days.
This one looks practically new, with the only discrepancy being an added coat of finish on the buttstock. It does not appear to have been sanded much if any, and the wood remains proud in critical areas with crisp and clear checkering panels.
S/N 33321A with a matching scribed bolt made in 1931. It has a 24" barrel with minty bore.
The original bluing is exceptional, approaching 98% on the barreled action with no notable marks. Even the bottom metal and buttplate look great with minimal wear relative to the age and model.
The rear sight is the correct factory inletted and installed early Lyman 48 with thimble knobs and long 150 point slide. All component #s match on this expensive sight. There is a correct Lyman 12S filler in the barrel dovetail.
The mechanical functions are all smooth and proper.
