Description:
General Specs: Browning, Year 1978, 9mm, 31oz., 4 5/8″ Barrel
Serial Number:  1878D-0269

The Browning Hi Power is a military icon. Since its introduction in 1935 it has built a remarkable reputation for function and longevity. It is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries in conflicts from World War two to the present. It was one of the weapons used by both Axis and Allied forces during the 1939-1945 World War. Based on a design by John Moses Browning who began work on the gun in 1914, the design was finalized by FN Herstal designer Dieudonne Saive following Mr. Browning’s death in 1926. The Browning was famous for having a double stack magazine with a 13-round capacity, a significant advantage when most semi-automatic side arms of the period held seven or eight rounds. This gave the gun its name- High power- later to be shortened to Hi-Power. This exceptional chrome plated example is number 269 of the 3,500 manufactured for browning’s centennial celebration, 1878-1978. This Hi-Power, sn1878D-0269, comes in its original velvet-lined hardwood display case and has been handled and admired. Manufactured in Belgium, this pistol has a mirror bore and 100% of its original factory chrome-finish. The slide has a distinctive engraving signifying it as a limited-edition Centennial model. A great chance to add a limited-edition Browning Hi-Power to your collection. Thanks for looking!
