RARE...The Smith & Wesson Model 1 1st Issue was the first firearm manufactured by Smith & Wesson.
LAYAWAY???...... MODEL 1, ISSUE 1 TYPE 2.....Cal. 22 Short. S# 872. (872nd Firearm made by S&WBbl. 3 1/4". Brass blade front sight. Bbl. rib marked "SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD MASS". Cyl. has one patent date that reads "APRIL 3 1855". Matching numbers on cyl., left grip panel & grip frame. Blued cyl. & bbl. Silver plated brass frame. Smooth hardwood grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period leather holster. CONDITION: grips have a couple cracks, scattered flaking, dings & handling wear. Frame has strong traces of silver plate w/ flaking, brass areas turning to a dull yellow patina, some oxidation & a couple divots on backstrap. Bbl. assembly & cyl. are a dull brown patina w/ scattered oxidation & traces of blue. Pitting in bore.
