This is the only site I use and do not plan to change. Description: This is a very nice German Jaeger Double Rifle from the mid 1800's. The barrels are proofed in Belgium, which is not unusual as they made Damascus barrel for the world. This gun has more Gold and Silver inlays than any gun I have ever owned. There is a Chamois on one lock and a Stag on the other, plus an Owl on the rib. There are star burst Gold and Silver inlays through out. It has a fancy wood trigger guard with no cracks or issues. It shows signs of extended use with worn carving and checkering as well as many nicks and scratches from the last 175 or so years, but the bores are in excellent condition. If I were still able to hunt I would use this gun in the field. The only mechanical issue is the set trigger will not set. It has a Gold cartouche of a crown which indicate an owner of very high rank. It has a folding peep sight and a single leaf open rear sight. Also, it is the first muzzle loading rifle I have seen with a ramp front sight. It is marked number one, which indicates it is one of a set. The gun weighs 7 pounds and has 25" barrels. A really unusual Jaeger rifle from the 1800's. Antique, no paperwork in most areas. $75.00 shipping via Priority Mail SOLD Antique: Yes |
