"NSN, made circa1885, .45-70, 26"" round proofed barrel. Bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling present. Barrel is starting to thin to a plum patina, left side just forward of the receiver is stamped with ""V/P/Eagle"" Breech is marked with ""US/MODEL/1873"" Lock plate has ""Eagle-US/SPRINGFIELD"" Original case coloring and engraving are approximately 98%. Standard oval base vernier tang sight is present above the checkered wrist. Stock is in excellent condition with sharp checkering and 1885 cartouche noted. Overall an excellent example in which only 477 were manufactured. Consignment
