Serial 137894 is based on a factory barreled action with correct .257 Roberts extractor collar and magazine box. The original front sight blade remains positioned and the rear sight dovetail has a Stith insert. Custom features include a reshaped and checkered bolt release button, contoured bottom metal (ends) and a tuned trigger. STOCK: Shaped from a AA-grade English walnut blank, appointments include 26 lines-per-inch borderless wrap checkering, scalloped cheek rest, steel grip cap, sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr recoil pad. DIMENSIONS: Weight (with optic) is 8.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.85 inches. CONDITION: The bore is bright and shiny with one small area of trace roughness at the muzzle (the consignor, an accomplished shooter and hunter, had the rifle stocked circa 1980 and reports no change in accuracy over the years). Mechanics are solid. Metal finish is approximately 80 percent with some general thinning and minor rubs. Wood is approximately 80 percent as well with a general distribution of field impressions and one chip at the rear shoulder of the cheek rest. OPTIC: The Kollmorgen Bear Cub 6x scope has a custom thin "crosshair" two dot reticle positioned in Lyman Tru-Lock bases. It remains clear with good lens coatings.
