Description:
Weatherby Mark V Deluxe in .340 Weatherby. This rifle was made in West Germany sometime between 1960 and 1972. I have owned this for many years. It has a 26" barrel with a Leupold M-8 6X scope in leupold mounts. The condition is amazing, considering it's age ( at least 52 years old). The rifle has been shot, of course, probably 200 to 300 rounds. I have found it to be quite accurate using Weatherby factory ammunition. I can't guarantee how it will shoot for you, there are just too many variables. Weatherby did guarantee 3 shot groups of under 1 1/2" at 100 yards when this rifle was sold. My Weatherbys have always shot better than that, usually under an inch. There are a few scuffs on the stock, (see pictures), and one small rub spot on the barrel where the blueing is gone. There are also various tiny scratches in the finish if you look closely. The Factory recoil pad is intact. Overall, in this original condition, I would rate this rifle at 90% to 95%. The bolt is very slick with no binding which I have found to be the case on the German rifles. Bore is bright and sharp. The scope is an older scope but the optics are clear and bright and guaranteed by Leupold. If you are looking for a long range rifle for Elk or Moose, or for taking to Alaska or Africa, This rifle would fit the bill.
