MEXICAN WAR SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1842 ALTERED PERCUSSION MUSKET DATED 1846. Barrel shortened to 34”. Forend shortened and ramrod a modern replacement. Otherwise original with nice lock markings on lock with Springfield Eagle and “US”. Barrel with Springfield “V//P/EAGLE HEAD” proofs at left breech. Visible ordnance cartouche on side panel. Lock in working order and nice old original metal and stock finish. Reasonably priced.
